Expert advice for well-groomed brows to frame the face and lift your look

Neat brows shaped to suit your face are a powerful confidence booster, and the well-groomed look can do wonders for self-esteem, but is it possible to take a DIY approach without going to a salon? According to award-winning permanent make-up artist Tracie Giles (traciegiles.co.uk), achieving beautiful brows at home is certainly doable!

Tracie shares her process!

  • Use a pencil to find your perfect brow shape. Place it vertically alongside the outer edge of your nose to find where your brow should start. Angle it from the edge of your nose through the pupil to find the highest point of your arch. Then angle it from the edge of your nose to the outer corner of your eye to find where your brow should end. It’s as easy as that!
  • Next, tweeze stray hairs, being careful not to overpluck. You can also trim long hairs with brow or nail scissors for a neat but full look.
  • Use products specifically designed for brows to enhance their shape, such as pencils for filling in gaps and finishing gels. A product that matches your natural brow colour, or is a shade lighter, will give a natural look.
  • Using light strokes to mimic brow hairs, fill in sparse areas with a pencil, powder, or pomade, and always work in the direction of the hair.
  • Set with a clear or tinted brow gel to help maintain the shape and keep hairs in place all day.

Remember – achieving the brow shape you want could take several months.
