Jawline Slimming – or masseters reduction for cosmetic purposes – is a simple yet effective procedure that works by using Anti-Wrinkle Injections to relax enlarged masseter muscles to create a narrower jawline.

The masseter muscles are attached to your jaw and control all the movements related to chewing food. For some people, strong jaw muscles are part of their natural anatomy. However, for others a square jawline is the result of a condition called Bruxism, which causes excessive teeth grinding or clenching.

With overuse from habitual teeth clenching or grinding, the masseter muscles become over developed and more pronounced, causing the shape of the lower face to develop in that strong ‘square-jawed’ look.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections can be used to relax and reduce the size of these muscles, softening the appearance of the jawline. Creating a narrower jawline in turn results in more prominent cheek bones and chin. Relaxing these muscles can feminise the face as a stronger more developed jawline is more typical for a masculine appearance.

Jawline Slimming narrows the jawline to improve the balance between the cheek bones and the jaw, creating a desirable V-shape to the face.

Habitually clenching or grinding your teeth enlarges the masseter muscles attached to your jaw, resulting in a wider square-looking face. Relaxing these muscles relieves the tension and slims the jawline.

We advise all clients use Crème Rescue Serum for 2 weeks before treatment to give us the best possible canvas to work from. Crème Rescue Serum should also be used immediately after treatment to speed up healing and as part of your everyday skincare routine for ongoing skin maintenance.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections are most commonly seen as an anti-ageing treatment and one to feminise the face, however when used in the jawline they can also:

• Reduce the appearance of a square jawline
• Slim the jawline
• Tackle teeth grinding (Bruxism)

The Anti-Wrinkle Injections are injected directly into the masseter muscles on each side of the face, expertly spread out at multiple points within the muscles.

Some new clients worry that this will reduce their ability to chew or create facial expressions, but voluntary movements such as these should not be affected by the procedure. Involuntary movements such as teeth grinding and tensing should be controlled by the Jawline Slimming treatment.

The procedure is highly effective, with minimal or no pain as the needles used are so fine. We will provide a soothing ice pack if needed and apply Crème Rescue after treatment.

There is no ‘down-time’ following the Jawline Slimming treatment and you will be able to go about your normal activities immediately following the treatment. The only exception is avoiding strenuous exercise and alcohol for 24 hours after treatment.

You may have some small bumps, bruising or redness at the injection sights, but this is usually unnoticeable and will not last.

It’s important to note that the effects of Anti-Wrinkle injections are not immediate, and the final results may take two weeks to show. Tracie Giles London will arrange a review after two weeks where Tracie can check the results and make any small adjustments if required.

Results usually last about three – four months. If the area is treated as soon as the muscles start to move, then the muscles are slower to regain their ‘memory’. This means after a number of treatments the interval between the treatments should become longer.
